Okay so I haven't blogged in what seems like eternity! but, really has only been about three months. Well where do I begin? I left off with Casey playing football and though we didn't have a winning season it was still great! We went on to win against Canyon View which is the other High School in Cedar City. We then made the playoffs but then lost. Casey had a great football season and even made 2ND string division team. I think that's what its called. He is looking forward to his senior year and is working hard at getting himself ready in fact he is wrestling this year which he hasn't done in about 3 years and so far hes doing pretty good. Nicole is almost done with cosmetology school and is not quite sure what she wants to do next maybe finish her degree at Dixie state. Cody and Sara just celebrated their 1st year anniversary and just got their first baby! A little pug named Hugo! I haven't seen him yet bet I hear he is adorable! I think that will be it for them for a while as far as Kids go for now!! they are also planing to go to the Temple soon.Looking forward for that. Noelle is growing taller I swear each day She has completely passed Nicole and I both up. She is still cheering on Raglan a competitive cheer squad and we are leaving today for a Competition in Salt Lake. Which is good because we may get to see Gary. He is now working in Wyoming for a company called Haliburton. As the economy was getting worse we were struggling big time with our concrete company and we had to do something, We sold our house and are now just renting a few blocks away to keep the kids in their same schools and Gary went to Wyoming. He has been in School training since October and we have only seen him about 3 times since.He didn't even get to come home for Thanksgiving and wont be home for Christmas. Once he is done with school he will work 2 weeks straight and be home for 1 week. but we feel very blessed because so many people in the construction business are really struggling and this is a really good opportunity for us. And eventually we will be making a move further up North probably after Casey graduates. As for me I'm just trying to hold down the fort here in St. George and am still working 2 days a week at Taylor Andrews the hair school Nicole is going to. Oh and I finally got my Braces off!! I love Dr. Feller and everyone @ his office they are awesome and I Love my new SMILE! Thats it for the Shafer family these days and in spite of all the trials this past year I feel very grateful for the many blessings in my life.

Friday Night Desert Hills lost to Eldorado!!! Eldorado never won when I went there back in the eighties!! Casey said they were a good team that showed good sportsmanship and they definitely beat us in size!!! Well hopefully we will get a chance next year to play them again!!!

Casey went to his first homecoming dance Saturday night. He asked a real cute girl Lexi and I think they had a great time. For their day date Casey and his friends took the girls to a Cabin in Kolob and made the girls dinner! They then went to the dance I thought Casey looked pretty handsome! He's such a cute kid! Even though he would not smile for one picture!!!

Homecoming Game(New Coming)

Friday night was Desert Hills First Homecoming game Or New coming seeing how it was our first ever! Anyways it was a good game, but we lost in over time which was a real bummer! I think the boys just had other things on their minds because they just didn't play as good as the past 2 weeks oh well hopefully they will have a better game against Eldorado next week!

It was a great game on Friday Night we had an away game in Salem Hills. We were down the entire game until the 4th quarter. There was about a minute left in the game and Desert Hills was up by 7 and Salem Hills had the ball when the Quarter back threw and interception to Casey to end the game!

Ok so this year Casey is playing Varsity @ the new high school in St. George Desert Hills High.
We had our first game this past friday night and it was great! We played Uinta they are a high school from up north. Anyways we stomped them with a score of 36-3! What a way to start off the season! Casey is #55 and is starting @ middle linebacker on defense and also starts @ o line. He is pretty good and did make his first local news debut! So check out KCSG news and go to sports and week one. So wish us luck for a great season!

Gary and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary this past weekend. We had the most wonderful weekend! We drove down to southern California. The weather was perfect! We stayed in Encinitas which is where I grew up as a kid and it was really great because I had lost contact with an old friend who is like a brother to me Shawn.
I looked him up before we left and we all got together for dinner and then we went to the beach. Saturday Gary and I went and saw Dallas play in a pre- season game against San Diego and even though Dallas lost we still had a great time! It really was just the most perfect weekend and I hope Gary and I continue to share many more anniversaries like this past weekend!

So last week was my 40th birthday, and I really thought that Gary would arrange to have my best friend Shawnee there for my birthday, but he didn't. But he made up for it by taking me to Idaho to see her. She lives in this really small town called Filer which is right next to twin Falls. It was really great to see her and her family. We had a great time even though it was kinda a short trip. We went to the snake river and to the Shoshone falls and we also got a special treat the Twin Falls Idaho Temple was having their open house and so we got to tour the Temple! It was really great that my girls got to see the inside of the Temple and see how beautiful it was and it was really great to take Nicole's boyfriend Danny through because he is not a member and I think he really enjoyed it and learned a lot. We also made a few stops along the way and one was to the Salt Lake Temple and I think he liked that too. So my birthday was really great I stretched it out over the whole weekend! And I'm not even done because my kids all got me Alan Jackson tickets for August 16th! Wow do I know how to turn 40 or what

GIRLS CAMP 2008!!!

So last week was girls camp for or stake (The Little Valley Stake in St. George) And as much as I do miss some of my dear girls camp buddies from the Sunrise Stake in Vegas (Jen, bro Skinner, Laura Bailey, And Sloan to name a few) I had such a great time this year and I was really impressed with this stake and especially my ward, the Little Valley 1st ward. These girls were absolutely amazing! And I had such a great time this year. It is really great to belong to a church that to know that wherever you go in the world that you have people in the church that when you are in a new place with just strangers and within no time these people become your brothers and sisters and you feel their love and have great love for them. And yes I will always have a special place in my heart for the sunrise stake where I spent my first 18 years as a member of this church. But I find comfort in knowing and it strengthens my testimony to know wherever I go I am blessed with great members of this church. I am grateful for the opportunity I had this past week to spend time with some of these good members and especially these young women they are awesome!

The 4th of July!

For the 4th of July this year we rented a room @ the Cedar breaks Lodge in Brian head. We had a wonderful time. This was our second year in a row spending the 4th in Brian Head and I think it has become a Shafer family tradition. The Brian Head fire department always put on quite a nice fire works show it is really great. We had such a great time that I down loaded quite a few pictures to share some of the fun. Our friends the Stevens were there again also and Danny. We rode our for wheelers most of the weekend and lots of other fun stuff ! I did not want to come home! I can't wait for next year!

The year was 1998, and I was a stay @ home mom with 4 kids, Gary worked for Stewart And Sundell Concrete as a Foreman. Cody was 12 1/2, Nicole was 10, Casey was 7 1/2, and Noelle was 3. I'm not too sure but I think we bought Cody his first guitar that year. Nicole starting Cheering for the Cobras.Casey was big into wrestling and so were we!It completely consumed our lives back then! Casey also played baseball and started football that year. For Noelle's 3rd birthday that year we took her to Disneyland for her 1st time. I was Primary President in the Viewpoint ward, Don Nesbit was our Bishop.Gary also Coached Casey's baseball team and wrestling team.Man were we busy!

Well t seems these days I only have time to blog when I 'm at work! Well I don't really know why I don't seem to have time to blog because I really haven't had that much going on. Tuesday nights is YW's and we are making pajama pants for girls camp and just getting ready for camp! July 15th thru the 18th! I can't wait! It's the first time I will be going to camp since we moved here to St. George. And I have to say that although I know it will be fun and even though I love my young women to death! I know that it will not be the same as the Sunrise stake! And it will definitly be different without my favorite camp buddy Jen!
Casey left for football camp yesterday they went up north to Utah state and the bus broke down on the way! Not too much more going on these days.

So tonight I am @ work ( I work 2 days a week @ the hair school Nicole goes to TAYLOR ANDREWS) anyways Thursdays I work a 14 hr shift so it makes for a long day! So I'm just sitting here a little bored so I thought I wuld blog for awhile . So not too much going on in the Shafer Family these days. Casey and Noelle just finished up school last week so we are now on summer vacation! Although with gas prices and funds pretty low these days I don't really know how much vacationing we will be doing! Infact this past memorial day we were going to go to Idaho to visit Shawnee but just couldn't swing it so we went camping instead. It was fun but rained on and off all weekend. Casey has started football again and next year he is a junior @ the new high school Desert Hills, they play Eldorado next year and we are looking forward to the Victory! Noelle is playing softball and is the star pitcher! and she also made the Varsity cheer sqaud on her competion cheer squad! Nicole is busy attending hair school and is starting a new job @ a tanning salon. Cody and Sara are doing great, Sara is going to go through the Temple this summer in St. Louis and they are looking forward to being sealed in December or January. Gary and I are doing great he is still the love of my life and my best friend were going on 22yrs of marital bliss!(HA HA) no really I am truly blessed and we are great! Gary started his own concrete company and we are slowly geting work. But I know the Lord will bless us. Well now that I have wriiten a book I will go for now!

I can't believe 20 years has gone by, it has gone so fast! She is the sunshine in our lives, she's beautiful and grows more beautiful everyday! She's kind and loving, with a heart so sweet and a personality that is witty and fun! I am the 2nd councilor in Yw and I just love it! I am over the Beehive class and If I do say so myself we have the best Yw around! Tuesday night we had an activity that started out with a lesson about The Potters Hand and then we took the girls to this place called brushfire and we painted different things made of clay. Matt (elder) Sockwell is the one holding Nicole, We are currently looking for the other Missionary Matt (elder) Mcallister.
So a couple of weeks ago Gary looked up one of the missionaries that taught me the discussions when I first joined the church. And then surprised me that he got a hold of him and that he was coming for a visit. (Elder) Matt Stockwell his wife and two kids came for a visit last Sunday! It was awesome to see him after 19 years! He was as great as ever and we had a great visit! But I didn't think to take any pictures! So I will share some from 19 years ago!!

So Noelle is on a competition cheer squad RCC and after months and months of practice they are finally ready to perform! Their first appearance was at the Dixie state football game halftime show. They blew the Dixie cheerleaders out of the water! They will be competing in quite a few different competitions in the next few months and then it on to Nationals in February and a trip to Disneyland!!!!

So my brother in law has been working at the Grand Canyon all summer and has been asking Gary and I to come and stay, so we finally did! It was amazing and breath taking! It was my first time! Gary and I can't believe we have never taken our kids! We stayed in a cabin on the North rim compliments of my brother in law and enjoyed a first class meal compliments of my brother in law! It was just Gary and I and even though we had wished we had brought the kids it was really great to have some alone time! And what a beautiful place to do it! If you have never been I recommend it!

So now that I am home full time I am getting quite a bit done around the house!I am getting all the honey "dews" done that I have had for Gary for quite sometime now, I got him to take the huge pile of garbage (that kept getting bigger)To the dump finally! And I got him to fix the leaky sink(I think it had only been leaking for maybe 6 months?) And I got him to finally hang the shelves in the dining room ( next month will be 1 year since we moved into our house!) I still have a long list of HONEY "DEWS" but now that I am not working I am sure they will all get done!

2.If someone handed you a gift card worth 10,000 dollars what store would you want it to be for, and what would you buy? Thats easy COSTCO!! I would buy myself the diamond ring I have had my eye on and maybe a laptop and who knows what else!

3. What current trend or fad do you just don't get? Body piercings I think they look horrible!

4. Your are having a dinner party and you can invite 3 famous people dead or alive... who would you invite? Drew Barymore I love her!! Reese Witherspoon I Love her!!! and my favorite male actor Harrison Ford!!! Love him

5. Wheres the best place you've been on vacation...and what made it the best? Well I been to several cool places but one of my best vacations was about 8 years ago we took the kids to San Diego and we stayed in a cabin in a Koa camp and went to the beach it was great because it was just Gary and I and our kids and we had a great time as a family, its one of my happiest memories!!!

So a couple of weeks ago my big screen T.V. broke, so I took it back to Costco and they refunded me the $$$(2,300) that I paid for the T.V. Well I then bought a plasma T.V. for about $1400. On Friday I noticed my tires were not looking to safe and so I got all new tires for my car, all with the $$$ that I purchased my big screen with 2 years ago!!!! Thats why I Love COSTCO!!!!!!!

So today was my 39th birthday and for the most part it was a normal day, I went to Eldon Hardy's funeral, which was different for a birthday, but actually nice. Anyways my friend Catherine gave me a really nice gift (a framed picture of my family the day we hiked the narrows), my mom made me a really nice dinner, and my friend Shawnee forgot my birthday! Other than that it was a great day!!!
